  • Eligibility

    National and international Secondary School students (up to 4 people per team, individual participation possible)
    Team composition can be formed freely regardless of school, school year, or domestic and foreign divisions.
    Each student can join only one team.
    Only one work can be submitted per team.

    Steps Program Schedule Description
    1 Workshop 16:00-18:00 Saturday 28th May
    Lecture on ‘appropriate technology and carbon neutrality’
    Guide on how to prepare for the ‘Idea Sketch Contest for Appropriate Technologies’
    Presentation on last year’s best teams
    Reviewing contest schedule and policy
    At least one person per team is required to attend all meetings
    - Team’s participation rate is reflected in the evaluation
    - If all members are absent, it will be considered abandonment.
    2 Proposal Submission Monday 6th June – Sunday 12th June
    The proposal (refer to Form 2) should specify motives behind the topic selection, procedures and final expectations from the project.
    Failure to submit will result in a deduction of points.
    Submit the proposal to the Google survey site (bit.ly/register_at2022)
    If you have any questions during the exploration process, you can ask for help on the Naver cafe of The Academic Society for Appropriate Technology.

    3 Presentation video Submission (qualifiers) Monday 18th July – 24:00 Thursday 21st July
    Submit video (up to 4 minutes in length) to Padlet
    4 Mentoring (optional) Mentoring application : up to Thursday 21st July Mentoring period : Monday 8th August – Friday 12th August
    Teams that advance to finals can receive mentorship on advice necessary for their performance for about an hour.
    Mentoring is an option only for teams that want it, and mentoring is not reflected in the evaluation.
    Mentors consisting of experts in each field belonging to the Academic Society for Appropriate Technology, will advise on the following matters.
    - Guidance and advice to consider the main causes and solutions of problems from various angles
    - Professional knowledge for exploration
    A team wishing to receive mentoring support should write down what advice they would like to get including its background and submit it to the Padlet along with the preliminary presentation video. (refer to Form 3)

    Announcing top 20 teams Top 20 teams are going to the final. (Tie score is allowed)
    6 Finals Open Talk (1) Monday 1st August – Friday 12th August
    Collect feedback on your work from other  teams and experts on Padlet
    Write down their feeback and your reflection on the feedback diary (Form 4), which should be submitted by 25th August with the final presentation video to Padlet
    7 Submit the final video up to 24:00 Thursday 25th August
    Submit presentation video (up to 4 minutes in length) and your feedback diary to Padlet
    FinalsOpen Talk (2) Friday 26th August
    Q&A and discussion between students on Metaverse ※ At least one person per team is required to attend
    8 Final presentation 15:00-18:00 Saturday 27th
    Final presentation on Zoom
    - Presentation of summary of your work (1 minute)
    - Q&A on Zoom (3 minutes) (To be announced later on the web of the Academic Society for Appropriate Technology)
    9 Announcement of the evaluation results Saturday 3rd September ※ Certificates are awarded to students and teacher who participated in the finals
  • Awards

    1 grand prize, 2 gold prizes, 3 silver prizes, and bronze prizes (remaining teams) are given as the highest score ranking. However, there may be changes depending on the number of support teams as a result of the screening.
    Results announcemetn and awrds : Saturday 3rd September, 2022 (KST)
    Awards ceremony is held online and a certificate is sent to the winning school.
    All students and advisors who have completed the final stage will be awarded certificates.
